  • All content and communications on our platform are in English

We provide:

  • The ability to compare service providers
  • Information about tree surgery services
  • A platform for Service Providers to advertise their businesses

We do not:

  • Employ or directly provide tree surgery services
  • Guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of services provided by listed businesses
  • Act as an agent for Users or Service Providers
  • Enter into contracts on behalf of Users or Service Providers
  • Verify compliance with local laws and regulations in jurisdictions outside the UK

Service Provider Responsibility:
Service Providers operating outside the UK are solely responsible for:

  • Complying with all local laws, licensing requirements, and regulations
  • Maintaining appropriate insurance coverage as required in their jurisdiction
  • Ensuring their services meet local safety and professional standards
  • Displaying pricing in their local currency
  • Declaring and paying any applicable taxes in their operating region

3. User Obligations

3.1 Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use our Site. By using the Site, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

We reserve the right to remove reviews that violate these standards.

5. User Responsibilities When Engaging Service Providers

5.1 Verification

Before engaging any Service Provider, you should:

  • Confirm they have public liability insurance
  • Request and check references
  • Obtain written quotes and contracts
  • Verify any tree preservation orders or planning requirements

5.2 Contractual Relationship

Any agreement for services is directly between you and the Service Provider. We are not party to these agreements and have no liability for the performance, quality, or outcome of any services.

5.3 Payment

All payments for services should be made directly to the Service Provider according to your agreement with them. We do not process payments for tree surgery services (except for directory listing fees paid by Service Providers).

6. Intellectual Property

6.1 Our Content

All content on the Site, including text, graphics, logos, images, and software, is the property of Hire a Tree Surgeon or our licensors and is protected by UK and international copyright laws.

6.2 Limited License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from our content without written permission.

6.3 User-Generated Content

  • Listing fees are payable monthly in advance
  • Payments are processed via our payment provider (Stripe)
  • Fees are non-refundable except as required by law
  • We may change pricing with 30 days’ notice

10.3 Service Provider Responsibilities

Service Providers must:

  • Maintain current and accurate business information
  • Hold appropriate insurance and qualifications
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Respond professionally to enquiries
  • Not misrepresent their services or qualifications

10.4 Removal of Listings

We reserve the right to remove or suspend any listing if we believe the Service Provider:

  • Has provided false or misleading information
  • Has received multiple serious complaints
  • Has violated these Terms
  • Fails to maintain required insurance or qualifications
  • Engages in unlawful or unethical practices

11. Privacy and Data Protection

Your use of our Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

12. Third-Party Links

14. Termination

You may stop using our Site at any time. Service Providers may cancel their listing subscriptions by contacting us.

14.2 By Us

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms.

14.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

  • Your right to use the Site ceases immediately
  • Any outstanding fees remain payable
  • Provisions that by their nature should survive (indemnification, limitation of liability, etc.) will continue to apply

15. Dispute Resolution

15.1 Informal Resolution

Before initiating any formal proceedings, parties agree to attempt to resolve disputes informally by contacting us at the details provided in Section 17.
